Handle Material in YELLOW!

I've several knives coming up that the intended owners want a solid "Yellow" slab, much like the Camillus Yello Jaket or the Case Yellow handled Sodbusters. Anybody know where I can find some. Any suppliers out there for this?--thanks, Dan

Interesting that this would come up. I was thinking about using some yellow Delrin which is what I think was used on the factory knives you mentioned.

I emailed Dupont to see if it was possible to get sheets, blocks, or slabs. They emailed me back tonight and said ...

"Thank you for your inquiry. DELRIN is available in the color yellow; however, DuPont sells our Engineering Polymers in pellet form only for injection molding or extrusion applications. If you wanted to injection mold you would have to have a design and molder to process the part. "

Bummer. I have fond memories of the of the old yellow handled knives. I don't know if anyone would have been interested had I been able to make some up with yellow Delrin, but I wanted to give it a try.

I'll have to say that the Camillus Yello-Jacket series is one of my all-time favorite knife lines. Their little 2-blade congress is probably in more pockets and drawers than any other knife on the planet ... wouldn't you think? I think every member of my family tree has one ... you're right, if you could get that material in sheet sizes, it would make some interesting stuff to work with.

I had crossed that avenue with Dupont earlier, but thought I could find some on the net, however no luck yet. In looking at my Case with yellow, I think maybe I can use a yellow plastic of the same generation as Delrin. Got a local plastics fabricator and he has a junk pile, maybe there is some there. Alternatively, maybe I can find some micarta in yellow. I know there is a website up that offers up micarta for use in engraving.l might try there. thanks to all--Dan

Got one set of yellow scales (Linen) at 5" x 1.5" and 3/8" thick if you want to trade. Not sure if it's enough for your project though...
