New Shop!

Hey guys, I'm very excited to announce that Fletcher Knives and Fiddleback Forge have found a new facility, and are ready to move into a new shop! The new shop is 1200 sq feet, and not far from home. Its got finished offices and a bathroom, and a warehouse and mez space as well. Pics attached!

A big thanks goes out to Dogwood Dan, who found the location for us.

The first pic is looking back at the bay door.

Next is looking in through the bay doors.

I'll post more pics as we go. They turn on the electricity Monday!

We had close to the same space in the basement. Maybe within 200 sq feet. The problem was the insurance and business #######, etc here weren't going to happen. I got worried about my own kids...

Hell, any help would be greatly appreciated. Especially folks that know electricity, or want to build a bench this weekend. LOL. I'm not especially knowledgable about electric code. Got the business ####### yesterday, and the insurance is coming.

Dylan and I definitely want to do an open house, or even host a meeting soon.

Not trying to dissuade DIY stuff, but that ####### lets 'em come in and inspect anytime they want. Any serious wiring has to be to code by a #######d electrician and inspected.....it's a deal breaker if they come by sometime and happen to notice no sticker in the box. They seldom look but just takes once.
Some of your customer base has to include a local electrician, do a little trading.

If I can get the rest of this leather work finished up and some blades HT'd by tomorrow pm, I might be able get over there Sat. and help a little.
Email me the address and directions.

If you want to know what real "crappy" stuff is.........try working in a wastewater treatment plant.
I've got literally tons of experience in that arena, repairing, replacing, etc. You got lifting devices or going brute force....no matter good for either.....(I don't do 300# much anymore if it's above my waist).

I have an open small trailer (you've probably seen it) if it'd be of use. Looks like rain for the next day or two though. Let me know. Plan to show up around 9:00, earlier if you like.

New pics of the shop and the two benches Dan and I built this week for the shop. (Dan did most of this.)

This pic was taken just inside the front door. The office is straight ahead, and the bathroom is on the right.

We're lucky in that we're on the end unit, and there is a nice side yard. The landlord says we can punch holes through this area if we wanted to build a shed and put the compressor and dust collection outside. Thats sweet, plus Boudreaux has a nice place to lay in the sun. I get to bring my dog to work nowadays. I always loved being able to do that.

This is a detail shot of the black pipe compressor line. The bench for the KMG's will go on this wall.

This is the first bench all put together. We're going to face the plywood edges with curly maple. I got 30 board feet yesterday for the task for $1.80 a bf. Hehe. Cabinetmakers, ... They think its trash. There will be pegboard over this bench, then two shelves with lighting underneath them.

The rest of the pics are just random 'move in' pics. The first shows the front door. You can see the side yard there. The landlord doesn't mind me turning this into a dog run. I'm really stoked to take Boudreaux with me to work.

This is the front workspace. We will have a leather bench in this room, a PC, two tables for glueup, random not dusty task areas will be in here(kydex rivets and such). Its more space than we're using for this now.

This is the 'office'. We haven't decided exactly how to use this yet. For now its our eating spot.

Dan and I finished the 16' of benches on the bay door wall. This will house the KMG's (3 vert and one horiz) a 2x42 and a chop saw. Still have to put the curly Maple facing on the raw plywood edges.

Same benches from the stair end of the space.

One of the dog, Boudreaux, overseeing the cleanup before we left.
