grizzly 2x72 tracking problem
I have a grizzly 2x72 tracking issue. The tracking knob and belt are not co-operating. I have the tension tight enough, I have tried belt dressing on 10'wheel rubber hoping it would keep the belt centered, tried electrical tape on top alum. wheel center, I do have both wheels aligned vertically, changed from old to new belts but, still sways left and right upon touching belt to grind steel blade, aggravating frustrating. I puchased it new in box for $295.00 went to pick up in san antonio, texas since, I live 240 miles south of SA. I can't afford a KMG, Bader, or others so, will make the best of what I got but, need your help gentlemen. I would appreciate your info. thanks, Rey in Mission, Texas:

I have one and it's a great grinder for the price, but it does have it's weaknesses. I looked at a friend's grizz when he was having a problem and he had the wheel installed wrong.
The problem could be a weak spring. Call grizz and see if they can help. __________________ God bless Texas! Now let's secede!! |

I'm quite happy with my Grizzly 2x72, I've had no problems with it at all.

Used 1 for several years . Had to make a couple mods to make it run better. Will post pics if I can find them
TJ Can't locate the pics. I took a 1/8 x 1 bar about 30 inches long. I bent a angle that you could clamp to the left side of the motor with a dryer hose clamp and the other end goes to the upright shat just below the tracking assembly. This stops side to side wobble. I added a spring from the tracking assem to the base of the unit to put mors pressue or tighten the belt. Wrap some elec tape around the center of the upper wheel. You can make a lot of knives on a Gris. Good luck TJ __________________ TJ Smith Knifemaker |
