Mil-spec and Homemade Kydex sheath
Made this one up for some military-minded folk. Same pics are in the display case. Thought I'd show the sheath - Kydex of 0.90inch thick, detachable sleeve which hooks up to a ballistic nylon wrap-around belt-loop system that takes allows 3 or 4 different belt positions. 2 main positions - low drop and high ride are shown in the smaller accompanying pictures. Future knives will have less of an extreme recurve in them - not really my cup of tea; I prefer more subtle shapes.
Not too many Kydex sheaths turn up here but thought I'm push this one in. The knife is spoken for, I make about 2-3 similar ones every month. Knife is 6inch blade of RWL-34 powdered steel, cryo-ed, triple tempered to 60-61HRC, black canvas Micarta handle with satin finish. Comments please... Cheers. __________________ JASON CUTTER BLADEART Jason Cutter @ Dr Kwong Yeang Knifemaker, Australia (Matthew 10.16) |

Hmmm...
Just thought to myself, Kydex doesn't come across too well does it ? A bit dark, featureless and I think my pics are not very revealing... Anyway ...

Jason, I know I joke all the time about kydex and its family about being without a soul and not pretty, but a well made sheath is just that. You did an awesome job.
Just different strokes my friend, and yours is welcome here like anyone else's.I just got an e-mail the other day for a kydex sheath that I had to turn over to someone else because I haven't a clue how to do it.Dave |
