Thumbs up How to line up your drill press table square to the spindle

On other Knet forums I've been asked to demonstrate how to line up a drill press.

Here are two different methods.

First, bend a coathanger, heavy wire or rod like the picture. Place that in your spindle, place a paper on the table and bring the table up and lock it so the rod just barely touches the paper.

Adjust your table so that the rod touches the paper right and left when you sweep it around by turning the chuck.. If the rod sweeps heavy on either side from front to back, it will be necessary to shim the table to spindle coulumn.

NOTE!! Always bring the table up, not downward, and lock it to the column to avoid sag.
