Nice looking shape on the knife.
The photos are such that they really show off the scratches left visible on the blade. Although I am just starting out myself I've learned that very minors details make a big difference in how the finished piece views. I got some air bubbles in my epoxy also that showed around the file work. I used some super glue to fill them and I resanded. Next time I will try to use some more epoxy to fill them in to see how that works. Overall I think it is a solid, good looking knife. The sheath looks good also. I just learned the vine pattern myself and I put it on my latest also. Thanks for posting. __________________ Walt |

Yeah, I think I will backfill the file work with superglue and see if I can smooth that out some, I'm really impatient and the epoxy was still a little soft when I sanded it.

Good effort, some things you need to work on and since the have already been mentioned I won't go over them again.
Here is a thought. I just advised someone else that the camera sees things that the the eye wants to overlook. Use your camera as a tool. Take pics when finished. When you get too where you can't pick up the flaws in the pictures then more than likely no one else is going to see any flaws either. That is provided that you are honest with yourself about what you are seeing! FYI if you get bubbles in your epoxy warming it slightly will help to get rid of them. They are usually caused by air entrapped when mixing so slow down on the beater method of mixing! It will also cause the epoxy too cure faster so be sure that everything is ready to go when you start. If you are thinking ahead everything should be ready to assemble anyway! I like to always have the just in case stuff as well, in arms reach! Like clean rags and acetone or extra clamps, etc., etc.. It is when you got to go hunting around the shop for something that things usually go real bad at glue up time! __________________ C Craft Customs With every custom knife I build I try to accomplish three things. I want that knife to look so good you just have to pick it up, feel so good in your hand you can't wait to try it, and once you use it, you never want to put it down ! If I capture those three factors in each knife I build, I am assured the knife will become a piece that is used and treasured by its owner! C Craft |

The only other thing I can add is if you fill the file work, stop the file work where your handle scales end. It will be cleaner looking. It looks better than many of my beginning blades.

Patience is definitely a virtue with that type of work.
