It may look cool, but that shows blatantly that something is wrong with the steel grain structure. I'm with Carl, normalize get the steel back to stable and re-HT because who knows what happened to the rest of the knife blade, I doubt that the rest of the non-visible steel is in ideal condition.

OK normalize then RE HT will happen today, then a finish grind. I hated to chuck this one. Hope I can save it.

I would go along with too hot. I would also recommend to normalize again. When you do it will help to let the steel soak @ critical for several minutes to help equalize the carbon throughout the blade.
Probably not the answer that you wanted to hear but it should give you a better blade. Gary __________________ Gary ABS,CKCA, ABKA,KGA |

Better figure that you will be losing a little on your profile dimensions with more decarb from a repeat HT, but you should wind up with a better blade. Just remember the secret is in the heat control...you put a lot of work in getting to this point so don't rush, get distracted, or get lazy now...stay focused.
