I saw a movie a few nights back where one of the bad guys had a tiny kukri, looked like about a 6" blade. Some of the big fighting kukris I've seen had little 3" or so miniature kukris mounted to the sheath of the larger knife. These were for use in meal prep and as table ware. I know you like kukris, maybe that O1 could be one or someone could send you a bar of 1084 (I think I have one) ...

If you're good with an exacto knife I've used electrical tape and a battery charger to etch with saltwater. Actually if I had been able to cut the letters neatly enough I think it would have looked decent. The outline part of scrapbooking letter stickers worked too, but I couldn't find them small enough that it didn't look goofy.

Just wanted to bring this thread back up near the top of the list to see if we could get a few more people interested. This is the easiest, most open form KITH that you're likely to find and it's a great chance to get to see (and own) someone else's work. You've got about 6 weeks to put something (your choice) together. You'll be making knives anyway and improving your skills so you've got nothing to lose.
Again: anyone can enter a knife but it's the FIRST TIMERS (or your 2nd or 3rd, etc) knife makers that this is really for so don't be afraid your work isn't good enough, just jump in there!

I am going to give this a try... I have attempted less than 10 knives at this point, and they are all sitting on a shelf in my garage waiting to be "fixed" one day
Since I learned most of what I know about knife making from this forum, it kinda seems fitting that another member will be the first person to get one of my knives.
So, count me in.

A while back I was looking at youtube videos about making knives. I came across one "how to make a bowie knife." I thought, finally. Some british 8 year kid comes on the screen and proceeds to make a bowie knife from a cardboard toilet paper tube and scotch tape.

found the card board but looked all over for the new roll of tape. I guess I might use the 1084 I have laying around. Ray I know for a fact that several people signed on that don't know how to post pics.
Can you go over this w/ us it might get more newbies to sign up.
Somebody forgot to tell Teddy I'm a girl.
