Thuya Burl

I found a wonderful piece of Thuya Burl the other day and am planning on using on for a small fixed blade knife. Is there anything special that I should do to the wood before using it?
Thanks
Steve

Steve,

The main concern on any wood is make sure it's dry. It would be a shame to build a handle of something as pretty as thuya and have it shrink.

I think that you will find that it is pretty stable right now, Thuya tends to be very resin rich and does not react to humidity changes in this area. It will require a seal of some kind, carnuba wax or super glue to keep it from picking up dirt from handling.
