Is there a way to make a DDR3-BL an automatic?

Yes there is. Order the .375 Maxx torque coil spring from knifekits.com. Install it and HOLD ON when you depress the button! That's all you need to convert the BL.

I got the coil spring with this kit, but I can't figure out how to install it. Any suggestions for a hi-tech redneck?

If you look at the blade there is a little hole in the blade and a recess in one of the bolsters. Drop the spring in the recess and over rotate the spring enough to get it in the hole. They are bad ass, I just gotta get a clip on mine
