Memorial Service for Clay Gault
As many of you may know, the TKCA had planned to present well known Texas Knifemaker, Clay Gault, with the Texas Legends award at the Spirit of Steel Show last month. Unfortunately, after a long illness, Clay passed away only a few days before the show. We held a Memorial service in his honor on Saturday evening instead of our regular TKCA membership meeting.
Don Morrow, our board member in charge of the project, accepted the plaque for Clay, and made arrangements to contact and give the plaque to Clay's son, Bibb Gault, who was attending to his fathers funeral arrangements, and couldn't attend the presentation. Below is an email from Bibb to Don Morrow after Don had presented the plaque to Bibb. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi there Don, I really appreciate you making time for me today. The service for my dad will be on Sunday the 28th at 12-2 pm at Serranos restaurant located at 1111 Red River Street in Austin, Texas. Phone # is 512-322-9080. There will be a buffet style fajita meal served after the presentation so we can socialize and not rush. It would be great if you can attend and if you could pass this info on to any other knife makers that you think might like to attend I would be grateful. Thanks, Bibb T. Gault 1834 Paisley St. San Antonio,Texas 78231 210-493-1354 wk# 210-601-9058 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If anyone is in the area, it will be a good time for us to get together and share our stories about Clay. If you'll be able to attend, drop me an email and I'll try to spread the word, and post a list of attendees here. Hope to see some of you there. |
