Stiletto Parts
I'm new to custom knife making. As a matter of fact I haven't even begun yet. I traveled in Europe in the 1970s and brought back a few Italian Stiletto Automatics. I love the style but I hate the quality. I've finished my knives to a little higher standard by fileing, sanding and polishing. I've recently learned that other guys take these knives, completely dissassemble them and rebuild them into quality peices. Where can I obtain the necessary parts to rebuild my knives, I figure I'll need solid cast nickle silver bolsters and pommels, liners, handle material (I like Stag) and a source for heat treating the blades and springs. Thanks for your help!

welcome to ckdf, john. i recall a recent article in KI, i think, about a fellow that rebuilds and customizes these. i am sure that he makes all of his own parts. i'll see if i can find the reference.

Stiletto Parts
Wayne:
Thanks for getting back to me. I'm presently collecting knives for my project. The knives from Italian stiletto maker Antonio Beltrame are my favorite "donor knives" so far. They are straight with a good snap and lockup. I'm also gathering scale material, bome, stag, horn and Corian. Corian comes in nice white colors that make a nice simulated ivory. Has anyone had experience using Corian? Is it possible to get a copy of the article on customizing stilettos? Thanks again and all the best. -John |
