knife identification

My father in law passed away a while ago and while we were going through his things, we found this knife. Hopefully I can attach, "my not so great photos."

On the blade just ahead of the guard is stamped Imperial, with a crown above the i. USA is stamped under the Imperial. Blade is 4 3/4" and the handle is black plastic???

Any idea if Imperial is still around? Any idea how old the knife is?

Thanks
Rod

Rod,

I can't speak to the details, but my father had an Imperial he left as well.

My take is they were cheap working knives and that would fit since this was a real user.

Hope you get some intel......
