Nice job, Robert. Looks like you're set to go.

I can't tell from the pics. Does your thermocouple have a ceramic sleeve?

The plans i used are here http://www.freewebs.com/knifemaking/HT%20FURNACE.pdf it
is the same pdf that was on British Blades a long time ago. I changed to a drop down door like the paragon ovens and made it to siut me.
I bought the p.i.d. , ssr and thermocouple here http://www.auberins.com/ and my elements came from here http://www.duralite.com/
The 3" soft firebrick and the other parts and material were bought localy.

I bought all the parts over a period of a year or so but i'm pretty sure i have around $300 in to it plus my time.

Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob,

As the author of the above pdf document, I must congratulate you on an excellent job that you have done.

You would not believe the number of emails I get from around the world with regards to my plans. It really makes my day when I see a completed oven up and running. Before I built my oven I cant ever remember anyone building there own electric heat treatment furnace.

I must also apologies to anyone who I didn't get back to with questions as I had my email address spammed and have lost a lot of emails in the spam filter!!!.

I really must get back into knife making, I've been away doing other hobbies and interests, and at the moment I'm building a new shop at home so by the end of this summer I should be back knife making.

keep up the good work and enjoy the convenience of been able to do your own HT at home!

Cheers,

Andy Gascoigne.

Thanks for the kind words i had fun building this oven and if it was not for your plans it would never have happened. I had a little trouble with the wiring but with help from forum
members figured it out.

I have been working mostly carbon steel and doing my own heat treat for years but was limited to 1600f and a 9" blade now i can move on to stainless if i want and heat treat up to a 15" blade. I am also thinking about a bigger one already.

Take care and be sure and show us some knives one of these days.
Thanks for making that pdf it has helped many folks in there quest for an oven!

Cheers Bob
