shifting
I noted that shifting of the slippery layers when applying pressure was a potential and occasional problem. If you would align the paper or fabric with two holes, one on each end, and use nails (without head) as registration pins attached to a wooden jig, you can build up layers that will be aligned perfectly. Remove the registration jig with the two pins (headless nails) after putting the lot in the vise between the screwed down 2X4s. Still use the jig you were using to keep the layers from sliding around when you put them in the vise between the 2 X 4s. I can see this in my mind's eye, but it is more difficult to convey to others. Newspapers publishers use registration holes on the printing press to put and hold the pages in alignment after printing. You have seen the jagged holes on the ends and sides of the pages. |
