Using Indian Buffalo Horn

Has anyone used Indian buffalo horn slabs before? I just bought a couple sets and have not worked with it before. It is jigged to look like Impala horn. Any tricks to cutting, drilling, sanding or gluing it?
Any hints or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dale

Don't let it burn on the buffer. Watch out for cracking.

My experience has been this, Don't let it get hot. Heat will make the horn material move around . If you are going to use an electric sander, I would recommend only using a coarse belt to rough the shape and flatness in. Do the rest by hand. When you are drilling, withdraw the bit quite frequently and clean the flutes. If the flutes load up, the horn will get hot and you will end up with an oversized hole. Main thing is to watch the heat. Good luck.
