Leather and Rosewood
My third knife is done..... well, almost. It still needs a light coating of carnuba wax on the handle and a final polish to the brass, but its almost there. This knife is a compilation of design ideas, materials, and techniques gleened from various knives/makers I have seen on this forum. Thank you to all who have unknowingly helped.
The keen eye should find in these pics (poor as they may be) what my next project will be (Thank you Don ). Blade: 5 inch, Solingen high carbon steel (Texas Knife Supply) Handle: 4 3/4 inch, African Rosewood, stacked leather, Birdseye maple, red and black spacers, antler plug. There is a internal pin running from the in the guard thru the leather and into the Rosewood. Finger guard: hand shaped 1/4 in. brass Thanks for looking |

Looks good Bigblue! The back of the handle looks like a duck's head--you oughta get some of those glass eyes they put in decoys and inlet them into the back!
So, is that a knifemaking related injury on your finger? |

"So, is that a knifemaking related injury on your finger?"
I'm afraid so. The worst part of this little injury is that it wasn't a war wound from this knife project. I'm a chef and it happened at work the other day. Now that you point it out it does look like a quacker!! Thanks for the nice words. BB |
