curved bevels

I was looking at the latest Blade magazine today and noticed a couple of really nice daggers by Imel. They are in the article on daggers. The daggers had sweeping rounded bevels. I have seen these many times before but have never been able to figure out how to do them. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Steve

A bit off the subject here, Steve,. I went for another look at your "new" web site. I sure like your pictures and the rotating showing !!! Frank

Im not familiar with Imel, but if your talking curved plunge/ricasso it can be done on a wheel with the point down.I believe Phillip Patton has some pics at Blade forums of him grinding. He dous the curved plunge cuts excellently.

Hey guys,
I ran across this post while searching the same subject.. I have been wanting to expand my skills and have targeted hollow grinding as one of them.. One aspect I would like to try is the sweeping plunge cut..

I dont think the tip down method would work well with hollow grinding because the flat would not mate up with the hollow. Never tried it but that is my initial impression.

I suspect the sweep could be accomplished with running the belt off the end of the contact wheel a bit..

Any other details here would be much appreciated..

Cheers!!
Jerid

Never really did get an answer on this but I have a feeling most of the time it is being done with a flat disk and not a hollow grind wheel. Haven't tried it yet but thats what I have so far.

However it's done Jay Fisher has it figured out.. I guess I will just have to give it a go and see what happens.. Here is a fine example from Jay's website:

I've done it by using differant angled plunges over the width of the radius you want to acieve. once this is done take a pass over the entire blade length and with the blended grind over the previous plunges you get your sweeping plunge.
