Throw me a BONE?
I'm thinking of a 'bone' KITH for the next one.
Anything goes as long as there is bone in the handle somewhere... It's easy, cheap, and wide open to interpretation. Whadaya think? For technical purposes, we could also allow oosic, horn, antler, and any REAL ivory. In short, if it grew on an animal and you can make a knife handle out of it, it's cool. Before you even ask..., stacked leather does NOT count as a bone-like substance. Thoughts? *This would be a great opportunity for all of you who have been wanting to try your hand a scrimshaw! __________________ Andy Garrett https://www.facebook.com/GarrettKnives?ref=hl Charter Member - Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association www.kansasknives.org "Drawing your knife from its sheath and using it in the presence of others should be an event complete with oos, ahhs, and questions." |

Sounds like a good creative idea

I like the idea. It allows for a broad range of styles, from primitive/historic to high end with scrim.

I like the idea as well. Personally I've never used bone so this may be a good opportunity. I've also recently developed an affinity for friction folders - so far I've only used wood, but I'd like to do a real traditional one. My other favs are Nessys (BTW-Nathan, you're killing me with your new avitar!! I love that knife!) and I've wanted to do a real traditional stag handle one for a while. Basically, I'm saying I'm in!

Well then, if the response remains mostly positive, I set this one up after Nathan draws the curtains on the Newbie KITH.
BTW Nate, you've done a great job with that one! Thanks! Let me know when your ready to set up the gallery.

Dang Andy, you been reading my browser history? I was just trying to hunt down some elk or large deer leg bone for a seax-like thing I've been thinking about. I think it's a *great* idea for a KITH.
