OT: Big day tomorrow....
...for the English lads over in Japan & Korea. I don't know who the rest of Europe will be rooting for, I hope it's England
In case some of you American chaps havent been following the football (that'd be soccer ), England play Brazil in the World cup quarter finals tomorrow (Friday) at 07:30 GMT. This is without doubt the biggest head to head of the world cup so far. Most of England has the morning off work. To clue you in, Brazil are seedede #1, England are seeded #2. Tomorrow, one of us will be in the semi finals and one of us will be out of the world cup. Whoever wins, will automatically become favourites to win the world cup. 1966 was the last time England won (against Germany), but we've been consistenly top seeded, but plagued with bad luck. If I was a betting man, I would put money on England tomorrow, I think they have the edge - either way, tomorrows match will be awesome, clash of the titans on an international arena. Tony Blair says he will declair a national holiday if England get to the final. I need to get some sleep - if I can Go on Lads.... Engerland... Engerland.... Engerland.... sad, sad, sad....
Brazil 2, England 1,
Owen put the first goal of the match into the back of the Brazillian net after 20mins of the first half. Both teams looked well matched and the game was fierce. Brazil started to look a little more agressive and put the equaliser into Englands net at the end of the first half. A fluke goal from Brazil saw them 2-1 up early in the second half. They looked good. Then a break for England, a Blue shirt got sent off, with Brazil down to 10 men, and 30 mins left, it looked like we had a chance. Unfortunately, we just couldn't pull it together and wasted the chance. An England on form would have creamed them with a man down, but for some reason the lads just couldn't gel. Brazil go into the semi's, England come home.   |

Ah well, England and the USA out on the same day .....
Fortunately I don't take that version of football too seriously, I prefer Rugby and American Football. Roger |
