Tormek for grinding?
I've been using a 2x42 belt grinder for making my blades with reasonable results. I also have a Tormek that I use mainly for sharpening.
Somewhere in my browsing the internet I saw where someone was using a Tormek with the black wheel to grind the blades. Has anyone done this? Is it even practical? Thanks! |

I've not done it, but I've seen those machines close up, and personally, I think it would be highly impractical to attempt grinding out a knife on one.
Compared to a "good" 2x72" machine, I would think it would be painfully slow and awkward. __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES." |

Thanks!
Kinda what I thought but I didn't want to invest $100+ in the black stone if it wasn't a practical operation. |

I have a Tormek T4 (the smaller unit). Great for sharpening but would take forever to grind a blade. The RPM of the machine is around 250 and in sharpening it only removes a small amount of material. I would be very impractical.
