Integral with ancient Kauri wood

Steel O-1, handle ancient Kauri wood(stabilized by WSS). This wood is 50,000 years old.

That wood was worth waiting 50,000 years. Your fit and finish look to be exceptional. Nice Job.

Thanks,
I milled it but some people forge it and then grind or file.

Hi Alex,

For someone so new at knifemaking you started out really strong. VERY thorough job and it looks great!

Maker's mark? Have you designed one?

Good luck.

Coop

A milled intregral with a tapered tang... that's tricky man!

I second what Coop said about starting strong. ...and that Kauri... WOW! I've been a vocal advocate for this ancient, mysterious, and hypnotic wood since I first discovered it a few years ago. It is BY FAR my favorite! You got a fantastic piece there.

Well done brother!

Excellent job Alex, and that's an awesome set of scales!

A couple of your pictures looked a little dark and didn't do the scales the same justice as some of your other images. I took the liberty of brightening up a couple, I hope you don't mind...
