Studebaker leaf spring

I had my hopes up that the Studebaker leaf spring was 9260 but as far as I can tell its 5160. I've used some bought 9260 in the past and it produces a bold temperline. As you can see there isn't any. I'm still real happy with the knife. Forged on Sunday and finished on Wednesday if today is Wednesday. 5 1/2" blade, 10 1/2" overall. More sambar stag and wrought iron.

Good lookin Knife, course I haven't seen an ugly one from you yet.

IIRC in junkyard steel guide, 70's cadiallac springs were 9260

That's another beauty, Ray. Bold curves. That antler always looks good. Sorry that it wasn't the steel you were hoping for. Todd

Another beauty. I really love the profile of the entire knife, The gripp to blade angle makes it look like a very comfortable user.

And WHO took that photograph????????? That might be the best photograph of yours I have seen. Now we CAN see all the beauty coming from your forge.

Your right about it being a comfortable knife. With that style of half guard it will also hold itself on the hand. I took the picture. There's still room for improvement. I do alot better using natural light for taking picture this time of year. Thanks for noticing!

I really think we notice the knife photography much more than we sometimes say. Clear, focused composed photography can be as important as the knife itself. It can be such a frustrating skill to learn, and as you said there is always room for improvement,......much like the skills in knifemaking. And of course I would much rather be playing with fire than a light meter.

It is a pure joy to see these in all their glory, focused, detailed and displayed. There are several makers here that truly inspire me. I only know them via this forum and these photographs. So your efforts and patience are really appreciated.

I have had ZERO shop time in the last couple of weeks, and that in itself is frustrating enough, but just to add to the aggravation I have also again picked up my camera to attempt knife photography. The photo forum here has helped immensely. And as you say again......room for IMPROVEMENT, for me...plenty of room!!

Bloody nose to the grindstone, Tony
