IA/MN makers guild

I'm making an attempt at organizing such a beast and am farming out those who qualify geographically.

Mr Mickley is combing his contacts as well as a couple other guys from elsewhere on the web, but if you (or someone you) know lives in the area and are interested, pm me and I can get contact letters out.

Other makers I've talked to have benefited greatly from a close-knit organized group. I'm hoping we can do the same... even with guys from Minnesota.

If mods need to move this, please feel free.

Mark,
you might consider revising this to the greater midwest. I understand you are thinking about travel time and all that but there needs to be a big enough pool to draw from also.

Btw, i will be golfing at 2:37pm today. you should come up.

I did think about a larger pool. That's prolly the direction this should head. Doesn't make a difference to me either way.

Starting work on a tree house today and hanging the shop door. You keep practicing, I'd hate to destroy your morale.

Us guys from Minnesota aren't all bad, just think of us as heartier Iowegians , We may want to draw the line at inviting any Cheeseheads

I'd be interested, do you have an out line as to what the guild wants to accomplish?

Well, mickley and I both like to drink beer.

Aside from that, I was thinking education between guys, education for the public, (i.e. metals classes at high schools/community colleges) larger representation at shows.

And, heck, I was almost more willing to invite Cheeseheads over you guys, but you're in between Iowa and Wisconsin, so I didn't feel I had much of a choice.

Absolutely Jim. As of now, I've buried more knives than I've given out.

Good to have another Iowan.
