Hammer,

GREAT idea!

Lets everybody get together and think of a place, central to everybody.

I can ask the wife if we can have something at our house, if we make it a family thing (wife and kids) she might agree to have a cookout at my house)........Otherwise if its a bunch of guys, its in the garage and pizza.

This is a great idea, lets make it happen. If we get enough people maybe Mick ( Koval knifemaking supply) will show up and we can save shipping , etc, ...and if we can get some local engravers to attend and show off some talent, that would work for them and us).

In May, in Dover is the annual Western Reserve Knife Collector's Show. It is attended by many Ohio Knife Makers including: Jim Downs, Mickey Yurco, Fred Rowe, Gene Loro, Larry Bailey, Carroll Shoemaker, Carl Young, Dale Werther, Ray Babcock, Roger "Mudbone" Jones...just to name a few off the top of my head - heck so many I can't remember all their names....There is also an Ohio Knife Makers Association that meets regularly too; call Dale Werther at the Carl Werther Museum in Dover for more info.

May 21-22, 2005 at the fairgrounds in Dover, OH - free admission; a combination of custom makers, collectors, dealers, scrimshanders, knife making suppliers (Koval Knives), and knife nuts in general!!!

A very nice regional show.

I'd certainly be interested in a get together this spring.

On a side note, I might be able to host something this fall for people from this side of the state who were unable to attend...everybody else could come too .

Matt

Now THAT place is hell-and-gone from everywhere for sure.
I'll be there, though.

I like hitting these little gun shows, usually the one in Berea, as it is closest.

Ohio gun and military shows (click here)

I'm with Matt,
If we find a place I can bring a propane forge and a anvil (with stand). I could also drop by the local "truck spring repair" and grab a bunch of "leaf springs" if I needed to. It's just something to beat on, (I wouldn't try a ABS test blade with it) but it's fun to play with.

Hi Darrel, Clayton and I still enjoy the files, and Clayton still carries the "kit" knife that Mick Koval sent (and he help make). I might give you a call next time I head down to Koval's and see if I can buy you lunch.

hammer~ That's the least that I could offer.
I have only certain ways that I can "thank" people that have been so compassionate to Clayton. I know that most of them don't want any thanks but as a father I'm compelled to try.
Everyone that has done something to make his life a little brighter deserves anything that I can offer.
