Speaking of rocks, there was a time once when I was thinking about my kitchen countertops. Should I use marble? Maybe I should just let the experts on Resources do the thinking and help me out. The short answer? I love the countertops. After a year and a half of living with marble, I find it elegant, cool, and bright. It’s lovely to work on and easy to clean.

Marble is pretty soft among stone type handles. Also porous so it can be contaminated to some extent if this is a light color. I've used a handful of marble like Picasso, zebra and some others. Easy to work with and polishes fairly well. Just note that getting it to a high grit 2000+ so that it doesn't take much time on the buffing wheel will reduce undercutting.
