Barlow locking liner project for anyone to join
Fellows, looks like we need new spark plugs or something for the folding knife forum. It's dying again.
Do we trade it in for a new one, start forging bowie knives, watch TV, pig out and go to sleep, or what??? I'm going to challenge you again to make a barlow linerlock with me. I'll provide you with the design for one dollar to cover my mailing cost if you'll join me and display the results here. Let's set a target date for July 4, 2005 to have them all done and on display. Maybe the forum will give us a special show display, huh, Alex? Come on, Frank, the other Frank, all you Franks, Bill, Chibiabos, Andy, Robert, Jean-Yves, Jeff, Dave, Jason, Ray, all you guys, join in. And, of course, our moderator, Neil. Everybody and anybody is more than welcome to join in. If you don't know how to make the knife, we'll teach you as you go along. That's what this forum is here for. Counting down from 5,, here we go!!!! FIVE!!! Tomorrow's 4! Join in by replying to this post and say you're in. As you may have surmised, my new arthritis medication has kicked in. It's a bright new world. |

Hi Don.
I think I will try one but will draw up my own pattern and stay involved in the forum. I can't send you any pictures however. Yours is plenty nice Don. I will pick it up off of your site. One of the Franks. __________________ Without collectors there would not be makers. |

what's a TV? the thing in the living room that gathers dust and is ignored about 23 hours a day. i wasn't sure the other question applied to me, i'm a goldsmith pretending to be a knifemaker. if it can't be made with a jeweler's saw, foredom drill and a file, it's probably not worth making. my website is in my profile.

I need to think about it for a couple of days and will get back via the forum. I would, however, like to know what your new medicine is??

OK, McAhron and (One Of The Franks) That makes 5 makers so far including myself.
This is going to be a success, and should add some to the posting traffic here. We might also learn a thing or two from each other as we progress toward the finish line on July 4th. Thanks for joining in. All right you other guys, join us. Shakudo, take a few hours off and have some fun with us. I had a good customer ask me to build him a solid gold knife a few years ago, but after thinking about it and sketching for a few months, I declined to make it. He even offered to furnish the gold, but it worried me so much about making a slip and creating scrap and leftover drops I couldn't see myself (or the customer) taking the risk. |

It's 7:27 A.M. here now, and we've counted down from 5 to 4. 3 more days to go.
Sign, in, guys. How about you, Doc Jason?? And the other Frank? Roland? Bill? Enough thinking, Robert. Sign in. I've got a pile of work to finish today, and a new knife order to start this weekend, but I'm already thinking about my barlow. Maybe sterling silver engraved bolsters, MOP scales, and somebody else's damascus? Eggerling? |

I better not Don, as I'm working on the David Darom book, which is taking up loads of time. I am going to be closely following the posts here though! What a great project!
