bladeshow balisongs?

Hey! So who went to bladeshow? What was the balisong scene there? I'm curious to know what customs were being shown..

I'm also very interested to know how the typhoon went over there? Let's hear it!

As far as customs I think I had the most on display at Darrel's table - see other post where I outlined ones I saw - was so busy didn't get a lot of time to go round to all the tables - were not a whole lot there! One neat thing was Sal had a Spyderfly that I got to play with for a while - it is definitely different but it is way cool!!! It is very nice and is going to be a good using bali - flips very nice! Wish I had had more time to check out the Balis.

Bill

Charles Marlowe had a few at his table...3 or 4 skeleton models, and 4 with inserts of Desert Ironwood, Maroon Micarta, Black Micarta and CF.

After Charles sold most of his stuff, he was good enough to allow me to take over the empty half of the table...so I had 3 Korth balis, Model 1, Model 3, and the new Palace Bali!

Neil! When're we going to see a Blackwood-isong? If I send you my kit and some scotch will you put mine together?

Darrel - nuts, the suspense is killing me. Hopefully someone'll post pics of it somewhere.

OWWW! What're you shooting me for Darrel? You got me in the a$$! Those butt shots hurt! Working all day tomorrow but will try to get some pics on Sunday! Nyb, the DLC finish really gives you a great feel/grip on the Bali - even with mirror finish it is not slippery at all - almost tacky - everybody who flipped mine at the show commented on the great feel and control the finish offered.

Nybble,

Two words........Milling Machine!! I need a serious one!!! I can only do so much with my Mini Mill  One step at a time, I just added AC to my shop after 5 years

Darrell, Bill,

I normally don't like the black coatings but it sure looked HOT on those polished handles8o

Neil,
YES I am with you on the coatings. At one time I used to dual finish the blades etc. NO more. You need to polish everything to make the dlc look good IMHO.
The blade need to be hand rubbed satin.
The frames need to be this way also to make a good non blotchy look .

The handles on the three balis at the show were mirrored titanium . They looked like black chrome when finished!

AC! I use wind power fans here hahahaha.
Hotter than the hubs of hell sometimes.

...Coming soon Darrel....awesome knife! That DLC coating is really nice.., but I'm sure the prep-work is what makes the finish look so good.

I'll post pictures as soon as I can steer free of ~~~> work!

Fantasitc job of planning and preparation to get the definition of the carved handles to look right in that format....

Maybe tomorrow for some pictures if I get lucky...
