Newbie with Randall Question
Hello all!
So I'm looking to get a Randall #22 or #4. I went to Randall's website and it's a 4 year wait!!! Is this how long you guys had to wait? Any advice on where to buy one without the wait? Any help would be great!! thanks, Adam |

Adam,
Tjere are options.... all with pros and cons. First, most of the authorized Randall dealers have shorter waits.... Just a few: Captain Chris Stanaback - He posts here often Rick Ward - http://www.ricksknives.com/ Nordic Knives - http://nordicknives.com/index.php There are many good after market dealers: http://www.spaceportcutlery.com/tek9.asp http://www.treemanknives.com/ http://vintageknives.com/ Then of course, there is Ebay...... Hope this helps, I'm sure others will reply as well. |

Dealers are at about a two year wait now. If you don't want to wait, Ebay is a good source, but you will pay a premium price for whatever model you buy.

I just have a hard time trusting anyone on ebay, espically when spending that kind of $$$$$. Some dealers that I've contacted can get me a model #22 in 4-5 months, price is about 25-30% above Randall's list price.

25-30% is less than you'll see on Ebay most days...... and the dealers are a trustworthy bunch.
Ebay is usually fine..... I have had over 300 transactions, most buying and selling Randalls. I've only had one bad deal and I recovered my money on that one. Read the seller's feedback, ask all your questions up front, and when possible, use Paypal. Good luck, |

I would go with that dealer. I don't think you will do better than 25%-30% over with a 4-5 month wait. I have also used Ebay successfully. If the seller has 100% positive feedback (on more than several transactions), I would feel comfortable buying from him/her.

Welcome scartozi!
scartozi, to the forums!
You have very good advice from Tune, DUH and Byrd! The only thing you have to watch out for is the day you receive your very first Randall! They can become addictive. Good luck in your quest. Cheers! Moosehead __________________ It takes less effort to smile than to frown ! |

Be careful Byrdguy...
Asking rhetorical questions can be considered a banning offence. Just ask the Wap. Cheers! Moosehead __________________ It takes less effort to smile than to frown ! |

I guess you could call you "symptoms" RAS= Randall Acquisition Syndrom. I collect guitars and we call that GAS. My wife just loves all my hobbies......just kidding!!!
I can't wait to get my first Randall. So do you guys use the knives for hunting, camping.....ect or just collect? or both |

scartozi,
The worst thing you can do is use one!!! Cause then it's always on ya & ya get to use it, which leads to having to have that really Bad Assed Ivory & Pure Silver that has been Scrimed & Engraved. Then another RMK junkie puts a picture of his Master Piece on here and you think if I sold mine I could have one like that, then you realize I'm not selling mine I just need one of those also. See Logical!!! Good Luck. __________________ See Ya, Chief David Francis |

Randall "Users"
Scartozi,
I have a decent collection of Randalls. More than most, but far less than some of the serious collectors. I have over a dozen Randall "users". The balance, although a great deal of them could be called to service at any time, are just for my collection. There are schools of thought "both" ways on this issue. Maybe we can get some "after-Thanksgiving" action going on the forum and discuss this. Here's an idea...Why don't "I" open up a new thread?? OOPS....Gotta go: Duty calls! (and I don't mean I gotta go to the bathroom). Best, Captain Chris Stanaback __________________ Captain Chris Stanaback |
