Heat Treating oven ?'s

What would the suitable temp range be for a heat treating oven? Ive got my eye on a Cress model c1000-6, inside chamber is 10''x8.5'' and gets up to 2,000 degrees. Whould this be ok for simple 10xx steels?

Thanks ~Nate

That you be plenty hot enough for austinzing 10XX series steels and most of the more complex tool steels. It could even handle most of the stainless steels that require long soaks at high temperature.

Thanks for responding Doug I appreciate it! I think I can get this thing for a steal so Im going to move on it. $200 seems pretty good price compared to everything else I've been looking at.

Ricky I saw them online for around 800$. The one I saw here local is in a glass making supply store used, with a 400$ price tag. just so happens one of my good friends is a local glass man and has spent a good deal of money at that store and knows the owners well. My friend is going to pick it up for me as cheap as he can get it and in exchange wants me to install some lights at his glassblowing shop...he is pretty sure he can get it for 200$. Win Win!

Some "glass ovens" will not reach 2000 degrees. Some do. If you can, test before you buy. ...Teddy

Teddy... The manual for this unit say do not heat to over 2,000 F or 03 cone., it'll be tested before it comes into my shop. Thanks for the heads up!

well I read a little more and it says this....

SPECIFICATIONS: 2000 OF MAXIMUM INTERMITTENT TEMPERATURE, 1700 OF MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS TEMPERATURE, 115 VOLTS,12 AMP SINGLE PHASE

I think it should still be fine for 10xx steels. Please correct me if im wrong.
Thanks ~Nate

That should take care of all but some of the more complex air quenching tool and stainless steels and maybe even a few of them.
