grinding profile
I've been reading all the posts I can but haven't seen anything on techniques for grinding profiles. I've made a jig to hold the blade at an angle to the grinder, but can't seem to get that clean look and transition that I see on everyone's blades that are posted. Any suggestions? By the way, this is the best thing going for newbies like myself. I've gotten so much help and advice, before I've made some basic mistakes, just by reading the posts. Thanks. |

I consider the profile to be the basic shape of the knife before grinding the bevels. I'm guess that you mean grinding the bevels, and that seems to be a matter of good coordination, and much practice. It seems I go so long between projects that I have to learn all over every time.LOL I've never really heard much good about the jigs to help with this, most seem to advise free hand, and lots of practice. If anyone knows of any shortcuts, please chime in. Steve |

Thanks for the input. As always, practice, practice, practice is the best teacher, I guess. |
