Question Looking for camera recommondation

Good day all,

Will be getting a new point and shot camera. Mostly for vacations and travels but will also use for shooting knives.

This one looks good for the price range (<$200) -

Amazon.com: Canon PowerShot SX230HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with HS SYSTEM and DIGIC 4 Image Processor, 14x optical zoom (Black): Camera & Photo Amazon.com: Canon PowerShot SX230HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with HS SYSTEM and DIGIC 4 Image Processor, 14x optical zoom (Black): Camera & Photo

For travel good low light and fireworks settings are a major plus. Big disadvantage of the point and shoots seems to be the reset speed but at least this one has a "burst" feature.

Any camera will be a step up for knife photos.

Any feedback on this or recommondations on others? It will have to have auto focus due to my inability to focus through a camera due to my inplants.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim!

I recommend that you check this review site before you purchase any camera: Steve's Digicams

As far as I'm concerned, it's the best camera review site on the web for point and shoots right up to professional SLRs. Check it out carefully and I'm sure that you will find something to suit your needs. Good luck in your search!

Cheers!

David

Thanks.

Went there and found this - http://www.steves-digicams.com/camer...hs-review.html

Was in the $250-400 but runs $190ish on Amazon. Much better choice.

Jim

You're most welcome, Jim! I'm glad you found one you like.

The camera looks like a winner, and it sure didn't take you long to find it!

Cheers!

David

Camera

I use a Pentax with an optical zoom it's an Optio. Using a angled single arm tripod the focus will get right down to even the makers marks. Inside a cheap light tent I am also using an App on an IPad mini which throws different coloured light and patterns on the image.
You can see a few of the photos on http://www.euro-traveller.com You will see a couple of knives and a pile of scissors using the ipad App.
