A Bushcraft
Stock removal CPM 154 with an AO blast finish, nothing fancy. Thought I'd try some different scale material and used Voodoo Resins - "Caged Deception". Not a big fan of resins but this stuff was easy to shape, feels good, and didn't stink at all while grinding it. I'm assuming it's an acrylic resin of some kind and utilizes foil as the "caging". Still wore my respirator of course but it was nice to work a material that didn't stink up the place.

Very nice. Love the blade finish and the handle is badass. Do you taper the whole length of handle to get that thin at the blade? Really like the sheath as well.

Thanks Tex. Nothing is tapered on this one, it's a full spine from heel to toe. Second image might look like a distal taper but it only tapers where the spine meets the primary bevel near the tip.

Do you do all you handle shaping after you put the scales on or do you do some pre work on them before?

The scales go on pretty rough and I shape them after they are attached. The only part of the scales that was finished prior would be the front of the scales where they meet the ricasso. I use a variety of tools for shaping scales but this one was pretty easy. After shaping I masked these scales to isolate the spine and AO blasted it to match the rest of the steel.
