Finishing Plunge Cuts on the Grinder

My Wonderful wife Cindy gave me a new GoPro camera for Christmas! My thought was to be able to provide short "how I do it" videos. This morning I was grinding and thought of something that many folks have asked about during phone conversations....that I could never explain in words...so I tried out the new camera! This is the first attempt with it....but I really like the video quality.

The plan is to provide short videos on various things that I've received questions on. If there is something you'd like to see, feel free to post it on this thread, or email me, and I'll put it on the list!

This one is a test run to see how things will work. Hopefully, as I learn more about the GoPro, and how to use it, the videos will get better and better.

Something I forgot to mention in the video! This only works with lighter weight, flexible belts! (thats a disclaimer ) Figured I'd better add that before someone goes and tries it with a Y or X weight belt and blows the belt up on themselves! I made that mistake when I was young and dumb....and still have the scars to show for it! LOL! Final note: DO NOT even think about doing this with a Micron belt! When a micron belt rips, its like a big razor blade flying around.....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I'll try to do more as I run across things that I think might be worth doing a video on.....in the mean time if you folks have any ideas, feel free to post them here.

Rob: Speed wise, I was running during the video at 40% on my speed controller. Normally I run 60-70% on heavy grit belts (50s & 60s), then slow down as belt grits go finer.....I generally end up at 30-40% by the time I'm at 400 to 600.

Thanks. Great video. I am amazed how thick the billet was and how thin the blade was. Wow tht looks like a ton of work.

Cool Ed. Nice job.

Maybe you could be the first to do a video WIP of a knife start to finish.

DANG JOHN! You don't want much do ya!? I could be like one of those DIY shows the ladies always watch on TV.....show what I start with....then make it look like you can do it in 30mins with no tools!
