We all need a little more of this

ttp://www.greatfallstribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080320/LIFESTYLE05/80320013

I had a freelance writer contact me a couple of weeks ago, and today this landed in our local paper. With the current state of knife sales, we could all use something like this to get our craft in front of a larger audience. Don't know about everyone else, but orders and inquires have slowed way down since fuel prices (and pretty much everything else) have increased. I know there are still folks out there who will buy knives, we just have to look a little harder.

Congrads Ed. I think the article came out really well and should make for great publicity.

Take care, Craig

That is truly a wonderful article; and yes, greatly needed for makers. I'm happy that they maker they interviewed was you. Well done my friend.

Julie

Ed, I'm not sure if I should mention this but the link they have to your site on that page is incorrect, they have the .com addy not the .net.

I had a nice talk with the editor about 2 min. ago on the phone and let him know. (Geez all this honor's work is making me wanky for accuracy)

This was just sent to me by the GF Tribune.

Thank you.
This has been up since this morning as a way to correct that article.
It is listed in our news update section.

Congrats, Ed. Good article.

You know, the knife world knows most of us, but no one in my home town except a few friends knew there was a knifemaker in town until a few years ago when an article about me came out in the local newspaper. That article brought me a lot of work over the next couple of years and I still get orders from locals.

You may need a helper.

Congradulations, Ed, that was a great article. I wish that we could get some good press around here so that people would realize that a knife is a tool.

Great article Ed!

Doug, often a paper will pick up a human interest story if you contact them. If that doesn't work, they will usually combine a very nice story with your knife advertisement if you work a deal. Or you might try and contact the paper to find an event they sponsor and donate a knife (in exchange for a blurb of course!).

Thanks Everyone!

Cindy was the first to catch the error on my URL, and called the paper. I sent an email off to the writer, and I guess she called the paper too. Within an hour of so there was a correction on the website

I didn't post this to puff up my chest....I was hoping this would spur others to look at the exposure options available in your home towns/local areas. To be honest, in the whole 16+ years I've lived in Great Falls, MT., I doubt if I've sold more than 5 knives locally. But who knows....maybe this will get an order or two, and if not, at least it exposes our craft to folks who may not even know we exist.
