I absolutely love this type of thing. A combo of new ideas, art, stretching the limits. I think it's just fantastic. I only wish I had his ability. I have thought and thought about the screws in the end of the ribbon, and can't come up with a thing other than they match the ones in the handle. I'm hoping he won't tell us either Great knife, great craftsmanship, and great imagination. Would love to have that knife.

I guess it's up to me to spoil the guessing game...

Larry informed me last night that he used Allen Screws...Flat head for the handle (they were countersunk), Button head for the ribbon tips.

He was going to use gems for the tips but didn't feel they were in keeping with the rest of the knife. Thought about it a bit and came up with the Allen screws.

Now that is what it's all about. For my own money, I haven't seen anything so fine and inventive from anyone else but Lloyd Hale. And that grind! I just shake my head in bemused admiration. I haven't had dreams like that since the 70s!

Dennis you must have the best knife collection on the planet. Do you ever show it? I'd drive quite a way to see it...

Don't misunderstand...I do not own this knife. Ron Nott and I post pics of Larry's knives because we're his friends (and admirers), and Larry seems determined to fight the computer thing tooth and nail...

I own two Larry Mensch knives...a small neck knife that I wear whenever I'm not at the office, and a fantastic tanto with an ebony handle, and an exquisite blade with a perfect mirror finish.

But what's it like holding?

Ron, you're welcome to thin out your collection on me any time... Need my address?

How the heck do knifemakers ever get far enough ahead to have knives available to sell? I'm six months behind schedule all the time! I'll never get enough made to go to a show... And looking at stuff like this makes me want to quit taking orders and start doing whatever I want to again. Maybe that's the key? I've been making the same two knives for a year now, and still not caught up. Frustrating! Gotta retire one of these days so I can get to work!
