Can I get some advice on what tools a raw beginner will need?

what type of engraving you planning to do?

mostly knives?

I am wondering about a few things about embellishment.
Once you engrave something, isn't there something you rub into the area that has been embellished to make black areas to make the embellishment pop?
What is that material?
