Twisted wire question - Tia Google, how to?

I want to use twisted wire wrapped around a spacer on a handle for an upcoming knife.

Tia Google recently posted a knife where he used this technique in the display case.
http://www.knifenetwork.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=61252

I was considering using a rope filework on the spacer in my design but really like the idea of using twisted brass wire instead.

Has anyone used this technique who is willing to share?
Twisting the wire should be the "easy" part (famous last words?). I have researched several techniques for that. My questions;

1. How is the wire attached at the join when wrapped around the spacer piece? Can the "twists" be lined up to form a smooth transition? If so, how?
2. How is the wire attached to the spacer and surrounding handle pieces? Epoxy? Mechanical fit? Solder? I assume solder would get into the twists in the wire and ruin the effect....

Any help would be appreciated. THANKS in advance!

Barry

I found one method that works for twisted wire. Drill two holes or one larger one, through the spacer into the tang hole, pull the wires throughout the hole(s) and twist so that the wire cannot go back through the hole. Stuff the wire back into the tang hole and secure with epoxy when the handle is attached to the tang.

Obviosly this is not how Mr Google did it with his twisted rod and bar above... but the solution will work for what I have in mind.

Still interested to hear if others have used techniques other than the one above or about any tips for making it work!

Tai, THANK YOU!

In hindsight, I should have googled your name and found that myself....

Those links helped a lot. Got me thinking about several uses for this look. I am going to practice up on my soldering and give them a try.

Thanks for responding and thank you for posting your work. I know they have inspired me to try some distinctive design techniques on my knives.
