And since you're a forger, I'll require you to read the Bob Loveless book. Haha.

I'm a bladesmith not a forger......do forage quite a bit though.
Read his book, lots of wasted steel hits the floor! __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Carl,
That's why you're supposed to gather up all the metal dust and can weld it into a billet, then forge a blade from that! -Adam |

Seems like a lot of extra effort and work to do what can be done first time around with a little judicious hammer work. Guess one can tell I'm not production oriented.

I hope to make this event to see what all this beating on hot steel is all about.
Do I need resevations or can I just show up? Already have a place to stay Wayne |

Only need to RSVP for the BBQ lunch on Saturday if you wish to partake. Caterer needs headcount. The rest of the event is free and open to the public. Friday and Saturday are the two "busy" days, Sunday is the slow breaker down and packer up day. Detailed event notice is posted on separate thread. Just a warning.....working hot steel is very addictive. There are a few of the fellas attending that make it look almost easy. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |
