Belt Sander Help
I found an old 1"x 42" Delta/ Rockwell belt sander. It has no model number. There is a V-belt driven wheel arbor for the 4" contact wheel, and an upright post with a 3-1/2" plastic wheel at the end of a 6" spring loaded arm. At the plastic wheel spindle is another adjustable-angle arm about 4" long with a sealed bearing on it's spindle. A larger sealed bearing roller mounts to the post in the rear. The VERY worn (dished out) platen is adjustable in and outwards away from the contact wheel ,with vertical and 30 degree contact surfaces. I have only been at knife making for three years and never used a belt sander for grinding blades. I checked the tutorials for some info, and found a few pictures of different type sanders, but very little about technics on blades. I suppose I will eventually figure it out ,but if there are some 'canned ' basics documented somewhere, it will save wasting perfectly good steel. Anybody?? THANKS WALKER

Hi, are you going to be going to the TrackRock Hammerin during November? It is near Blairsville, Georgia. Should be lots of great people there that can help, bring the sander with you. there is a thread about it down in the Outpost.
