Congrats to Ron Nott!

I know that my good friend Ron is not the type to toot his own horn,...so I thought I'd do it for him...

Ron just got back from Reno. After recovering from jet lag he called me today and told me that not only did he have his best show there in 10 years, but the icing on the cake was when on the very first day he was approached by representatives of Colt. They explained to Ron that one of the principle items on their agenda for that trip was to seek him out. They had seen his work and had been hearing so many good things about him that they wanted to know if he would "join their team." By that they meant would he start engraving guns for them on a regular basis. Effective immediately Ron will be taking on work for Colt. This is of course not to the exclusion of his private work, that will always remain a priority... and as always, he will continue to work from his home shop.

As Ron explained to me, it is considered to be quite a feather in an engraver's cap to be so recognized by Colt. Well to add to this very welcome and flattering bit of news, at the same show, Ron was also approached by Smith & Wesson with a similar request! That relationship remains to be formalized.

All in all, I know Ron came home feeling pretty good about the show...and well he should. The recognition for his work is well deserved...he's worked long and hard for it.

And with that I officially offer my congratulations to my very talented buddy Ron Nott.

I also would like to congratulate Ron. I have been able to hold several of his engraved Colts and he does a super job on them. We all know this came from all of your hard work and your love of engraving.

Joe

Ron,

I also want to congratulate you on this recognition. I have watched your work grow and constantly improve over the years and Colt should be proud to have you working for them.

I also want o offer a word of caution. Not to throw water on the fire but to give a heads up to someone I consider a freind.

Be careful of the 800 pound gorrilla. Large companies like that tend to take over the small companies they subcontract with. They develop an attitude after a while that they own you and you can't do without them. At that point the demands on time and price turns into a real battle.

This is a great opprotunity, just make sure you do not let them take over your life or your studio. Don't be afraid to tell them to take a long jump on a short rope if they start to get out of hand.

Ray

I attended my first FEGA show in 2001 where I met Ron for the first time with a pair of gold plated Colts on the table.

I've been showing those pictures to various people at work and ever since have been telling everyone that he engraves the finest looking Colts you'll ever lay eyes on.

Good goin' Ron!

What good news!

Yes, the recognition. Yes, the extra management.

BIG yes: the peace of mind knowing that there is nearly a fixed income arriving, as you can arrange it.

Good for you!

Coop

darn good show

i,m not well known at all as an engraver . i have been talking to ron the last several months on the subject. , and tecniques. dumb as it may sound , i have about 25 years of experience. mostly off. i am now back in full stride with what little time i can afford .because of his interest and response to my interest he has helped me much to persue this art which i dearly love. as i know he does. we met at the reno show a couple days ago. it was a fine moment to see his work at the table. believe me, those colts he had laid out were in grand style . to see the real thing is like no photo could ever reproduce. i feel very proud of ron and his sucess . by god , he deserves it . spends more time and effort to help and teach other guys that want to learn the art than most others. my thoughts john pilk

Friend Ron

My congratulation. I am convinced that his engravings are of great quality and they will be cherished by Colt.
But I agree with Ray; You are supposed to attempt not to lose his right to work.

Best regards and I desire a lot of your luck.

Montejano

Congratulations Ron! I still remember talking with you at Reno's casino about how you started your career as an engraver, and I'm glad that you get this recognition you deserve.

Great news Ron, you deserve this recognition.
Steady work is one thing, but becoming part of Colt history is to me quite an honor and achievement.
I wish you all the best Ron.

Hey, just don't forget us little guys ok?...

Tim
