Thumbs up Sword Art- - The Masterworks of Scott Slobodian

Hey folks, I'm posting this here and on another forum I belong to, I wanted to mention that Scott Slobodian just sent me a copy of his new book. This is a really neat book with essays from many makers and collectors who know Scott (Don Fogg, Leon Kapps and Howard Clark are some examples that come to mind), as well as some essays from Scott himself. The essays cover many aspects of the Japanese sword and there is a tech info section that covers things like wrapping the handle, heat treating the blade etc.

There are 144 pages and I can't recall how many photos, but somewhere over 100 photos of Scott's work. Scott is an incredible artist, both as a maker and as a photographer.

You can order the book directly from him, I'll see if I can post the ordering info tonight when I get home from work. I don't get anything out of recomending the book other than the satisfaction of helping get the word out for a friend.

I'll also see if I can get a shot of the flyer he sent with the book, so folks can get a basic idea of what it's all about.

Ok, here are the shots I promised, please don't mind the poor quality, I just point and shot them on a patio when I got home from work.

Clayton and I received our copy 2 days ago and I think the photography is outstanding, I haven't had time to read the text yet.

The book it's self is printed on high quality paper, and the photo's are printed on paper that does not reflect light. This makes viewing the photo's alot easier because I don't have to shift my eyes to view differant parts of the knife/sword.

I think that Scott has put great effort into his book and it shows.
