If you are on the Fence about trying Thermoform sheath making...

If you are on the Fence about trying Thermoform...Do it.

I spent 150$ and bought the Foam, eyelet tools, eyelets and several sheets of Holstex. They showed up yesterday. I slapped together a press from scrap wood and pulled up and played a couple of the videos on You tube as I made the first one, it was very straight forward and easy. I've spent the last 2 nights cranking out sheaths for all the knives I made as Christmas presents.

It couldn't be simpler.

Nice! I tried my first one last PM and I taped the blade and did my press. My problem is that it is really tight around the choil area and it is really hard to pull or insert the blade? How do you get it loose enough to pull the blade but tight enough to secure it? Thanks! DonO

Add another layer of tape. The more layers the easier to pull the knife out

if its the finger groove in the scales you may need to block out the area so it doesn't press round so much this reduces the amount of flex needed to get the knife out and so the force needed as well (mmm not a good explanation will see if i can get a photo )

choils if sharp can dig in so taking the sharp corner/edge off can help

as i make most of the knives i do I can make them Kydex moulding friendly
