survival knives

I have been making several outdoor knives lately.

They are in a specific size / weight frame

blades are differentially hardened A2 (3.8mm)
handles are 4 1/2" canvas Micarta
OAL 8 1/2" to 9"

Sheaths are 1/8" orthopaedic leather.

(both were special order and sold)

I like those! Very rugged looking--all business. Is that first sheath a horizontal back mount?

They are meant to be used.

Both sheaths are "normal" vertical belt carry (right side), but the first has a holder for a firesteel.

Pictures of the second were taken before the ballistol oil treatment had dried, because the hunter picked it up a couple of hours later.

His report was that a deer was skinned and processed without the need for touching up the edge and he feels no need to do so before his second hunt. "still as sharp as when delivered", he said. ( i don't believe that, but he should be able to do some more before the edge has gone enough to warrant resharpening)
