need help
I think I am having brain failure. I am trying to make a fold over sheath. I cut out my pattern from a folder 1/2 inch bigger than my knife when its folded its not big enough to go around the knife, even with the thickness of the whelt there is about 1/8 th inch from edge of blade to edge of leather. what am I doing wrong?? I am aggrivated now I have wasted a good piece of leather.

standingwolf...Just guessing here, but did you forget to "roll" the knife across the leather as opposed to just measuring the dimension across one side?

well I put the spine of the knife on the fold of the pattern paper then layed it over to one side and traced the out line and added 1/2 inch and cut out.

Here is my pattern, drawn on 1/4" grid paper. I hope this helps some, at least until someone who really knows what they are doing chimes in! __________________ __________________ Bob Kramer Alexandria, VA |

Paper patters
I usually make a rough pattern for anything I'm working on. Get yourself some manila folders, gives you a good center line and they are cheap. Make a roughout of the sheath using the knife and cut till it works. Think paper sheath. Then transfer to the leather.
