Bird & Trout
This is a relatively new one for me. The design is still evolving. The blade steel is 1084. The hardware is stainless steel. The handle is Australian Red Ironwood. This handle material is not something that I will be offering. It was a freebie piece sent to me by an Australian exotic woods purveyor. Blade length is 3 1/2". Overall length is approximately 7 3/4". |

I always make a point to look at yours Terry. I admire master craftsmanship. The thumb skid and the inlay for engraving are outstanding features. Your work seems to always have an outstanding feature or two that complement the clean work.

Looks great! Is the escutcheon raised or is it the photo? If so, that's a trick!

Thanks guys.
Montejano, the wood seems to be dense enough that it could handle humid weather. I did apply a deep penetrating hardening oil, and there was not much oil pulled into the wood. I don't have any more of the wood, and won't be trying to order any. The wood just isn't exciting enough to me. It reminds me of rosewood. Brett, the escutcheon is maybe a thousandth of an inch or less above the surface of the wood. After assembly I buffed all the way around it to smooth out the edges. Normally I'd have sanded everything down flush. This was just an experiment. |
