Cutting

Cutting is best done by the pro's, and some don't even want to mess with it. Please let me know when you find out what size you need.

Steve,
Hey bud,
Peter Atwood directed me to you. I need a piece of pyroceram for my new Bader. Please note that I am using the newest version of the KMG platen, that is made for the Bader III. I assume you may know this size.
I just spoke with Rob Frink yesterday when I ordered the Beaumont platen for my Bader, and he said that the "newest" model of the platen, is slightly different in the area where the pyroceram goes. It is made to be able to use the edge of the belt, without actually hitting the platen with the workpiece. I am not sure HOW new this one is, but it has been around for a little while.
I am sure you have sold pieces of pyroceram for this exact platen before.
Please email me at pc79@bellsouth.net if you have time, so I can place an order.
Thank you so much for your time.

Platen sizes.

Hi Paul: it has been my experience that platen sizes...even with the same brand grinder can vary somewhat from time to time. It would be best to measure the platen and please let me know exactly what size is needed. Thank you.

Steve, I'll need a 2x6 for my griz. My question: Should I grind off the factory platen or stick the pyroceram right to it?? And with what adhesive?? JB Weld ok?

Will pay with paypal, thanks.

Steve, I received my first platen just fine. When the second arrived, I was surprised to see what appears to be "ripples" along one edge, in the glass. Is this a normal thing? Since one of the whole ideas here is flattness, I wanted to ask.

Ripples

Mumble/Grumble..I have stressed that flatness of this material is crucial, by it's very nature to my supplier before, but he still occasionally slips me some with ripples I guess. I check them before shipping, but due to failing vision I may miss now and then. If the ripples are an issue in any way, please return for replacement. Thank you.

Oh no! I just received mine yesterday and I also have those same ripples in mine. I was actually going to ask if this was supposed to be there or not, but now I have just read this post.
Mine definitely has ripples all the way down the side.
I have no idea when I can get to the Post Office in the near future to ship it back to you though. I am just SO busy with work, during the normal Post Office operating hours.
