Anyone heard of these folks?
Hello all,
Getting ready to do a few charity knives and I was thinking of doing one out of Damascus. I normally use Devin Thomas but came across Alabama Damascus Steel. From what little I know it doesn't seem to bad of a mix (remember how little I know of Damascus which is why I'm asking here) and at that price I maybe able to do a couple. It's the price though that has me a bit worried, looks to good to be true which normally means it is. Thanks, Jim __________________ I cook with a flair for the dramatic, and depraved indifference to calories |

I have dealt with them for years. Good folks, decent product. Its not Devin Thomas but its certainly good damascus not mystery metal.

I have made several knives using Alabama Dasmascus steel billets. I followed their advice on the heat treating and etching and the knives turned out beatiful. Using their heat treating advice, the blades ended up 59-60RC in hardness which will do a good job of holding a cutting edge in the hunting fields.
