New forum shows progress

Well,

Hello everyone. Looks like we have a new playground. Come in and have a look around. Looks like we have some learning to do but this is going to be a great forum.

Let us know when you make the transition.

Cool! I'd like to see a bit larger default font size, if possible, as it is hard to read. Other than that, and missing those old purple shades a bit, the new site looks grand. Well done, Alex and company...!

THANK YOU!

I just found out about the new forum and I like it!

I just think that it would look a bit better if the usernames and avatars were beside the postings like on the old forum.

Thank's for the effort!

Cheers, Robert

How are you guys adding your avatars? I can't find the link under edit options in the user cp?

Robert,
It's under "Edit Avatar" in the control panel. You no longer have dig through the various options to find it. It's right up front, by itself on the main page of the user cp.

By the way, you had/have an avatar on CKD -- right? I'd have thought that it would have followed you over here. Maybe they are still being copied/moved over?

Yep, your banner is showing up Bob. Are you running any pop-up / ad blockers? If so, you may not be seeing your own banner because it has the word "banner" in it.

On my own banner (which also has the word "banner" in it), I had to specify to my ad blocker to let me see my own banner. H-m-m-m, I guess I'd better rename the thing. Think about the thousands of other folks running ad blockers.

It seems that the "Do not use avatar" button cannot be turned off in my "Edit Avatar" option. It doesn't "click" off. Mine didn't port over either, but it was this ugly mofo and might have been intentional! Thus, no avatar for now.

Note also that the little "id" under the member name now says "registered user" instead of "leading member" or whatever.

On something as massive as this site, I'm sure there will be little inconsequential things like these addressed in time. No hurry, no worry, the site's up and running!!

Terry, I tried the "edit avatar" link, but like Mike said, the button does not allow itself to be removed. Mine didn't follow me over, I'll need to paste it in like I did the banner (which I hope is showing up now). These are little things, no big deal. I've been having fun cruising around our new digs. Neat setup! Did I understand that we can use this new site to host our photos now, instead of having them on some other internet site to upload to here?

Ok, I fixed the banner issue. It was zone alarm firwall. Changed the name anyway, thanks Terry.

Due to the numerous viruses I get I added the firewall and some other programs recommended like "Adware" and "Hijack this" but now I have other problems. There is a newsgroup here in Dallas that is for buying and selling things. I cannot post to this newsgroup anymore. I can read and move around in it and when I post I get a signal that the post was sent fine but it never gets posted. Drives me NUTZ.

Any experts know how to use Forte Agent? Any idea what "protection" software is protecting the internet from ME?

As for this forum, there are a few things that I have to figure out. The main one, and one reason other forums bugged me, is that after I hit the "New Posts" button, I see all the new posts, then I want to read one so I enter it and respond to a message there. HOW do I get back to the "New Posts" area from there? I used to right click on my back button and then click on the link but when I dio that here, they are all named the same and I don't know how many levels I have gone through. Anyone figure this out yet?

Also, has anyone seen a "Mark this forum read" button?

This new forum is great, but I am not as great as I have to be to use it well.
