Scout Knife.....
Here's one I should have finished yesterday but, so I got it done tonight. The handle is acutally brown but with the inside light it turned out kind of redish. Its got a 6" 9260 blade with wrought iron fittings. The handle is a piece of stag that Chuck "Wild Rose" had sent me. I believe it came from a European knife at one time. I guess this is a recycle job.....

The funny thing is I sent this to Ray before I hooked up with Gib. Didn't care all that much for stag crown grips! And look at me now. __________________ Chuck Burrows Hand Crafted Leather & Frontier Knives dba Wild Rose Trading Co Durango, CO chuck@wrtcleather.com www.wrtcleather.com The beautiful sheaths created for storing the knife elevate the knife one step higher. Ray ; not to appear too dumb; but does that tang come all the way thru the antler handle ??
If so; how do you make " the bend "?? :confused: :confused: Or is there two seperate pieces; one tang from the front; and then a seperate piece from the back ??? I got a really nice blade from Chuck, and I need to know before I mess with it .. Thanks for any info ;; be well Thom Quote:

Thom, The tang does go all the way threw the handle. There's a couple ways to do it. One is you make the tang long enough, heat it up and bend it and then thread the end. Also you can braise or weld a piece of all thread to the tang and bend it the way you need to. With a piece of stag like this you need to do some compound bends to make things square with the butt cap.

Thanks Ray ;
I take it that you drill a hole thru one end of the antler; and then drill another thru the crown end; until the holes intersect ??:confused: :confused: I understand the compound bends in the tang; I'm just trying to figure out the hole drilling thing in the antler .. I remember the first powder horn; I kept looking for a "rubber drill bit " ; but nobody had them for sale.. Kinda like trying to buy a " sky hook "..to hang things from.. Thanks for the replys; hope yer winterin wellish.. Thom Quote:
